About The Momtourage
Remember that “holy crap” sensation of jumping into an icy pool? That is what like first-time (and heck, probably second, third, fourth, fifth and so on….time) motherhood is like. That’s why we created The Momtourage™, your source for everything you ever wanted or needed to know about life… after birth. The Momtourage™ is a forum in which you can share your most frustrating, fantastic and frightening parenthood adventures, stay on top of the latest news and trends in parenting, get information from experts on topics including your health, pregnancy, your child’s health, your child’s development and all the gear you need to help you survive.
Who We Are
Chelsea Kaplan Editorial Director
Chelsea Kaplan is the Deputy Editor and Beauty Director of The Family Groove, an online parenting magazine for hip, cosmopolitan parents. She also is a segment host on XM Radio’s women’s channel, covering fashion, beauty, parenting-oriented topics and a regular contributor to Self and the dating and relationships sections of Match.com, MSN.com and AOL.com. She and her husband somewhat recently located from Manhattan to Washington, D.C., where she’s developed an affinity for The Cheesecake Factory, driving an SUV and shopping at Target. Despite having two sons (born 10/05 and 3/08), she still can’t believe she’s somebody’s mother. To temper her angst, she writes the Momtourage’s blog.
Janna Morris-Meeks Managing Editor
Janna Morris-Meeks is an uppity neurotic with a hippy-go-free-free streak. Like all women, she possesses her own unique set of superpowers. Hers include reading at Mach 10 speed, deciphering babyspeak, and masking what she's really thinking with a convincing smile. After living in Atlanta for five years, she and her saint of a husband returned to their hometown of Columbus, Georgia with their baby boy in tow. These days, most of her waking hours are devoted to the juggling act of teaching middle school and meeting the challenges of mommyhood. When she isn't performing that magic, you might find her purchasing overpriced cosmetics, dancing to Irish pub music or whining about the subpar shopping available in her new locale.
Colleen Meeks Managing Editor
Colleen Meeks is a freelance writer with a questionably appropriate sense of humor and a flare for the dramatic. She is a regular contributor to YourTango’s LoveMom blog and has written for The Frisky and other online publications as a ghost blogger. She and her husband recently had their third child, a life change that necessitated her buying a mini-van. She’s still adjusting to this change in her self-perception and overcompensates by cracking rude jokes. When she’s not writing or otherwise avoiding doing laundry, she spends her energies attempting to raise her three children to be non-felons who remember to wash their hands without being reminded.
Eve Feinberg, M.D. Reproductive Endocrinologist
Dr. Feinberg, a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist at Fertility Centers of Illinois, shares with The Momtourage her knowledge of all things fertility and conception-oriented. When not spending her time answering our questions and caring for her patients, she can be found spending time with her husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter.
Michael D. Kaplan, M.D. Child Psychiatrist
Dr. Kaplan is a child psychiatrist in private practice and an Associate Clinical Professor at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, CT. His professional expertise, in addition to his personal experiences with fatherhood, allow him to provide The Momtourage with all sorts of reassurance that we’re doing things right, and some helpful suggestions when we’re not.
Reva Snow, M.D. Pediatrician
Dr. Snow, a member of the Washington, D.C.-area Capitol Medical Group pediatrics practice, provides The Momtourage with answers to our questions on all issues related to children’s health. And because she’s a mom herself, she knows better than to deliver advice that doesn’t shoot straight.
